All those posts and tweets may not help your sales much without proper planning.

Goals! Goals! Goals! First, determine the goals of your social media presence, whether it’s attracting more customers, boosting brand recognition, or improving customer service. Decide who your target audience is (look out for our article on how you can identify your target audience), and spell out a content strategy covering:

1.        Your key messages

2.       Kinds of content that will appeal to your audience

3.       A list of keywords that describe your business. You can use Google AdWords Keyword Tool to find relevant keywords for your business.  

Second, create an action plan that sets out responsibilities for social media tasks and a publishing schedule for posts. Preferably it’s better to have an online calendar.

 

Optimize your website

A great social media page means absolutely nothing if it drives your followers to an awful website - one that’s difficult to navigate, plagued by jargon-laden text, and has poor quality images.

A clean, attractive, and user-friendly website with compelling visuals is all-important for converting social media followers into paying customers.

Stay active and engage with consistency

Gaining new followers is great, but you want to do everything in your power to keep them as engaged as possible. The best way to do this is by staying active on all your platforms with consistency. Updating your social media pages once isn’t going to cut it but daily activity will create a more authentic experience with your followers. It’s not always about posting more, make sure you reply to all comments and messages as fast as possible. If you do, your followers are more likely to convert.

Social selling is the process of building a network on sites like LinkedIn and Facebook to make connections and present yourself as an expert in your field.
